Why The Court Refused To Grant Abortion For A 10-Year-Old Girl Molested And Inseminate By Her Own Uncle!

India, officially the Republic of India (Bhārat Gaṇarājya),[e] is a country in South Asia. It is the seventh-largest country by area, the second-most populous country (with over 1.2 billion people), and the most populous democracy in the world. It is not that surprising to know that a huge percentage of children are physically and mentally abused. In fact, according to a BBC report, "India has the largest number of child abuse and it is about 10,000 children were been molested only in 2015 and most of the criminals are acquaintance or relatives of the victim."

Some of these cases is the 10-year-old girl who had to suffer through undescribable situation. The unnamed girl complained of stomach aches to her mother, an illness which guide to the finding that this girl wasn't just having stomach problems -- the girl was pregnant! It was found out after that her uncle had been repeatedly molested her.

Thoug it is impossible for her age to be fertile, it does happen. The girl must have been started ovulating and developing when she was being abused by her uncle.

As with numerous countries, abortion is illegal in India. Her parents had to go to court to gain permission to have the operation be perform on their daughter. According to the Straits Times, “A 1970s law in India known as the Medical Termination of Pregnancy Act bars abortions beyond 20 weeks, though courts have made exceptions if the fetus is not viable or if the mother’s life is at risk.”

Doctors were cleave on the decision. Some contend that at six months, the girl was too far along to utilize on and would do more harm than good. Some doctors, still, argued that the psychological and physical trauma the girl will receive upon giving birth is the larger issue.

The courts ultimately decided to restrain permission and let the girl carry the fetus to full term. No new reports have been made as to whether or not their decision has changed.
